Located at the confluence of the Christina River and Brandywine Creek, the city developed into a very populous and readily accessible city in Delaware given its thriving downtown and Wilmington Riverfront regions and Port. Wilmington has a very active and diverse ethnic population, which contributes to several very popular ethnic festivals held every spring and summer in Wilmington, the most popular of which is the Italian Festival. Others events within the city include, the Polish festival, Indiafest, Haneef's African Festival, Clifford Brown Jazz Festival and Riverfront Blues Festival. Wilmington is home to four Wilmington State Parks comprised of Brandywine Park, including the Brandywine Zoo, Alapocas Woods Natural Area, H. Fletcher Brown Park and Rockford Park.
