Covers Of Taylor Swift’s Music Hit No. 1 On Several Billboard Charts

Taylor Swift has conquered quite a few of the Billboard charts throughout her many years as a superstar. She has, of course, missed a handful of genre-specific tallies, because she’s not known for her work in genres like Latin, electronic, or rap. This week, the singer’s music–but not the star herself–hits No. 1 on a pair of rosters she’s never managed to place on.

The Vitamin String Quartet debuts their new album VSQ Performs Taylor Swift on a handful of Billboard charts this week. The set is new on four rankings, and it brings some of the singer-songwriter’s biggest and most beloved tunes to at least two rankings that the powerhouse herself has never managed to reach–at least not yet.

VSQ Performs Taylor Swift opens at No. 1 on both the Classical Albums and Classical Crossover Albums charts this week. Swift has never released a full-length that can be classified as “classical” when it comes to genre, so it’s not shocking that she’s never appeared on either of those tallies.

The set marks the modern classical group’s first leader on both of those aforementioned lists. The Vitamin String Quartet has now reached the top 10 with nine different projects on both charts, but they needed Swift’s help to secure their first champion.

As VSQ Performs Taylor Swift starts at No. 1 on two tallies, it also blasts onto another two rankings published by Billboard. The covers project is new at No. 14 on the Vinyl Albums chart. It’s the band’s first win on that format-specific roster.

This week, Swift fills six spaces on the Vinyl Albums chart. She owns nearly one-quarter of the entire ranking…and that doesn’t include the Vitamin String Quartet’s full-length, which doesn’t count toward her career totals, even though it uses her name.

VSQ Performs Taylor Swift is also new to the Top Album Sales chart, where it likewise marks the first hit for the instrumental outfit. On that ranking, the title launches at No. 37. It opens with 2,590 copies sold, according to Luminate.

Swift’s fame and catalog of massive hits clearly helped the Vitamin String Quartet reach heights they’ve never seen on their own. The band has released dozens of these kinds of full-lengths, covering countless superstars, like Lady Gaga, Adele, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, and countless others. Several of those tributes have become commercial wins, but none have come close to reaching the same position as this Swift album.
