Jimmy Buffett May Be About To Score Many New Hits On One Billboard Chart

Following

Throughout the summer of 2024, many of Jimmy Buffett’s most beloved albums are set to be pressed and sold on vinyl. Some will appear on the format for the first time, while others will be made available on LP once again.

Fans of the late superstar are sure to show up in sizable numbers to buy Buffett’s older albums on vinyl, as they’ll want to support his legacy and fell connected to him again. All those future purchases are likely to help the singer-songwriter’s performance on one Billboard chart that he never managed to reach during his lifetime.

So far, Buffett has only landed on Billboard’s Vinyl Albums chart once. His latest full-length Equal Strain on All Parts debuted and peaked at No. 4 on the format-specific list back in November 2023, when that project was first released. Sadly, that was just a few weeks after the musician’s passing, so he never got to see his work on that tally during his lifetime.

Equal Strain on All Parts stands as Buffett’s only win on the Vinyl Albums chart, but that may not be the case for long. Three of the musician’s studio efforts were put on sale on wax records just a few days ago. In another few days, after their first tracking frame has passed, some of them—or perhaps all of them—may reach the tally for the first time.

On June 7, Living and Dying in 3/4 Time, One Particular Harbour, and Fruitcakes were all put up for sale on vinyl. Their first-week totals won’t be known for several days, but if they can all manage a few thousand purchases—which is possible, as Buffett’s fan base remains large and dedicated—he could send one, two, or maybe even all three titles to the Vinyl Albums chart.

If he earns even one new placement on that tally, Buffett’s career total number of appearances will double. He could quadruple his number of charting wins…and this is still just the beginning when it comes to this rollout.

10 of Buffett’s albums are being released on vinyl throughout the summer. There’s no telling how many of them will sell well enough to reach the Vinyl Albums chart, but a number of them very well could. They may also perform well enough to reach other lists, like the Billboard 200, Top Album Sales, and various other genre-specific rosters as well, depending on how they’re classified.
