Cannabis-Themed Divorce Parties Celebrate, Not Mourn, Separations

Following

Las Vegas, Nevada is not only home to adventurous, sometimes spur-of-the-moment weddings, but Sin City is also home to high divorce rates. But why mourn a life-changing event—divorce—when it usually leads to happiness after the transition is ultimately over?

Las Vegas Cannabis Weddings, the company that allows couples to incorporate cannabis into their special day, in a grow house or inside a dispensary, is launching a “Puff, Puff, Part Ways” divorce party package, catering to those looking for a unique divorce celebration.

The two-and-a-half-hour divorce party experience includes a guided visit to a dispensary, consumption lounge, and strip club, complete with a celebratory toast. The “Puff, Puff, Part Ways” package will become available on April 20.

“Las Vegas Cannabis Weddings understands a marriage ending doesn't mean the end of joy and empowerment,” says Maxine Fensom, founder of Las Vegas Cannabis Weddings. “Our new ‘Puff, Puff, Part Ways’ cannabis divorce celebration package offers a transformative adventure for those navigating the complexities of separation.”

Fensom has served as a wedding officiant for couples looking for a truly unique wedding, but now she’s aiming to serve couples on the other end of marriage matrimony. The new package debuts as consumption lounges open up in Sin City. The idea is to combine the thrill of the dispensary, the comfort of a consumption lounge, and the allure of a strip club, in Fensom’s own words.

Divorces Are Something to Celebrate

Nevada is home to the highest divorce rate of any U.S. state, with 4.2 divorces for every 1000 marriages, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“In Nevada, where divorce rates are higher than anywhere else in the country, there's a need to redefine the negative narrative around divorce,” Fensom adds. “This package not only meets that demand but exceeds it, offering a unique blend of relaxation, exploration, excitement and empowerment. In the midst of what would traditionally be viewed as a somber occasion, our package evokes a sense of liberation with a Sin City twist. As the demand for cannabis tourism continues to blaze, we stand at the forefront, reshaping the way people approach divorce, transforming it into an opportunity to reclaim independence and embark on a new chapter with joy and confidence.”

Over 50% of participants in a survey reported feeling happier two years after divorce, and around 53% of divorced women said they experienced an increase in happiness post-divorce. In the same survey, 66% said they had improved life satisfaction since divorcing, and 61% found love again within 12 months following the divorce. The package fills the need amid the increased demand for celebratory divorce parties.

Forbes reported in 2022 that Las Vegas Cannabis Weddings partnered with what is billed as the world's largest dispensary, Planet 13. While Las Vegas Cannabis Weddings utilizes Planet 13 as one of the business's two venues, Planet 13 does not directly offer weddings or ceremonies. Las Vegas Cannabis Weddings has another outside partner that allows weddings in a cultivation facility.

In the past packages, have included perks like a green wedding cake, a cannabis leaf bouquet, munchies—and even helicopter rides. Explore the Las Vegas Cannabis website to learn more about cannabis-themed wedding and/or divorce packages.
