Introducing Citizen's Nature Collection With Washi Paper Dials

Following

Art has a voice. It sings. It whispers. It tells stories. For Citizen, the story begins with Japan. With its vibrant culture and traditional art. With nature in its most pristine form. The fusion of nature and artistry is not just a concept, but a celebration of Japan's heritage in the Nature Collection.

Washi is an artisanal paper, known for its distinctive texture and durability. It's handmade using techniques passed down through generations, making every sheet unique. An echo of an age-old tradition, born in Japan over 1300 years ago. Washi has been an integral part of Japanese culture, used in various art forms from calligraphy, origami, printmaking to even clothing. The choice of Washi for the dials wasn't a random one. Being lightweight, resilient, and beautiful, it was the perfect choice to embody the spirit of the Nature Collection.

Deep within the mountains and forests of Japan, a tradition was born centuries ago. It was the art of Washi - a paper that is more than just a medium for writing. It was about breathing life into a part of nature, turning it into a canvas that told tales of the past and dreams of the future. The purity and resilience of the Washi paper, born from the Gampi tree, the Mulberry, and the Bamboo, made it a cherished part of Japanese culture.

Creating Washi dials is a meticulous process. From the selection of the finest materials, soaking, pulping, to the final delicate process of drying. In creating the Nature Collection, Citizen partnered with skilled Washi artisans in Japan. The result is a beautifully handcrafted dial, a testament to the synergy of traditional artistry and modern watchmaking. Special techniques were employed to ensure that the delicate Washi paper could withstand the wear and tear of daily use. The paper was treated to make it resistant to water and protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.

The use of Washi paper takes these designs to a different level. It infuses a traditional touch, creating a delightful contrast with the sleek modern design of the watches. The fusion of the ancient art of Washi paper with cutting-edge Eco-Drive technology. From the sturdy yet light Super Titanium cases to the reliable Eco-Drive technology ensuring unwavering precision. The watches come equipped with Citizen's groundbreaking Eco-Drive technology. A marvel of engineering that harnesses the power of light, from any source, natural or artificial, to drive the watches.

The two new bright color dials have joined the Nature Collection. The dial of each watch portrays intricate patterns and color gradients that come alive when light strikes the surface. The AQ-4100-22W model showcases a combination of traditional cloisonné patterns inspired by midsummer flowers. On the other hand, the AQ4106-00W model features a depiction of a golden eagle in flight, alluding to the brand's emblem.

Citizen's Nature Collection is housed in their 38.3mm proprietary Super Titanium case, known for its strength and lightweight. The case undergoes a special surface-hardening treatment, making it five times harder than stainless steel. The hands of the watch, coated in luminescent paint, not only ensure clear visibility in the dark but also add to the aesthetic appeal of the watch.

Both models are equipped with a high-accuracy Eco-Drive movement, boasting an annual accuracy of ± 5 seconds. This groundbreaking technology eliminates the need for regular battery changes, making the watches eco-friendly and user-friendly.
