Following

This year Watches and Wonders exhibition showcased some great options for dress watches. From the nature-inspired elegance of the Chopard L.U.C XPS Forest Green to the timeless sophistication of the Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse, each watch offers a unique blend of craftsmanship and design. Whether you prefer classic aesthetics or modern design, choose a timepiece that speaks to your style and personality.

Chopard L.U.C XPS Forest Green

The Chopard L.U.C XPS Forest Green captivates with its distinct design featuring green sector-style dial, which showcases a sunburst finish that radiates from the center, complemented by rhodium-plated dauphine-style hands. This dial not only reflects light dynamically but also features a vintage-inspired sector layout, a nod to the Art Deco and Bauhaus design elements.

The casing of the L.U.C XPS Forest Green is crafted from Lucent Steel, a proprietary alloy known for its high luster and sustainability, boasting a recycling rate of at least 80%. The case measures 40mm in diameter and a mere 7.20mm in thickness, making for a slim and elegant dress watch. It is powered by L.U.C 96.12-L movement that measures a mere 3.30mm in thickness, incorporating a sophisticated 22k ethical gold micro-rotor. The movement is COSC certified, ensuring that it operates within -4 to +6 seconds per day.

Retail price is USD $11,800.

Parmigiani Toric Petite Seconde

The Parmigiani Toric Petite Seconde stands as a beacon of contemporary elegance, combining traditional watchmaking with modern design elements. The case, crafted from 18ct rose gold, measures 40.6 mm in diameter and 8.8 mm in thickness, featuring the signature knurled bezel that has defined Parmigiani Fleurier since its inception. This bezel not only adds a tactile element to the watch but also enhances its visual appeal.

The dial, a crucial aspect of its design, showcases 18k rose gold with celadon green color, hand-grained to perfection, offering a textured, matte surface that complements the polished, alpha-shaped hands. At the heart of the Parmigiani Toric Petite Seconde lies the PF780 manual winding movement with 60 hours of power reserve. The movement is crafted from 18k rose gold, featuring three large surfaces that serve as bridges.

Retail price is USD $48,400.

Rolex Perpetual 1908 Platinum

Central to its aesthetic appeal of the Rolex Perpetual 1908 Platinum is the guilloché dial with a distinctive "rice-grain" pattern that radiates outward, adding depth and texture to the dial. The choice of an ice-blue color for the dial not only enhances the visual allure but also sets a new standard in Rolex's color palette, being richer and more pronounced than previous iterations. The case measures 39mm in diameter with a polished finish and the bezel is divided into an upper domed section and a lower finely fluted section.

The Rolex 1908 Platinum is fitted with a luxurious black alligator leather strap lined with green calfskin. It is equipped with the state-of-the-art 7140 automatic movement featuring silicon hairspring, proprietary shock absorbers, and 66 hours of power reserve. Rolex fine tunes the movement to -2/+2 seconds per day variation, surpassing the standards set by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

Retail price is USD $30,900.

Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse (Ref. 5738-1R)

With the launch of the new Golden Ellipse Ref. 5738-1R, Patek Philippe brings back the iconic gold on gold configuration. The watch is ultra-slim, measuring only 5.9 mm in thickness and maintains its dimensions at 34.5 x 39.5 mm. The most significant update is the new chain-style bracelet with an engraved clasp, which harks back to the mid-century design trend. The bracelet's parts are produced using industrial processes on the latest-generation CNC machines and then assembled and finished by hand.

One of the challenges of mesh bracelets, historically, is that they cannot be resized. Patek Philippe has addressed this issue in the new Golden Ellipse mesh bracelet, which offers three possible positions, allowing for a better fit. At the heart of the new Golden Ellipse is Patek Philippe's in-house, extra-flat self-winding caliber 240 movement. The caliber 240 is a beautiful piece of work, with every component carefully finished. The three steady pins for the balance cock are domed and mirror-polished on both sides.

Retail price is USD $60,097.

Vacheron Constantin Patrimony moon phase retrograde date (Ref. 4010U/000G-H070)

The Patrimony collection's understated design, timeless yet contemporary, has evolved over the past 20 years. Patrimony moon phase retrograde date watch features a 42.5mm white gold case with a new dial color for 2024. The sunburst old-silver-toned shade creates a subtle contrast with the pink gold hands and hour-markers, adding a two-tone twist to this model. The watch is paired with a matching olive-green alligator leather strap.

The watch is powered by the in-house 2460 R31L automatic movement, which operates two complications. The first is a moon-phase indication in an aperture at 6 o'clock, graduated to correspond precisely to the lunar cycle. The second is a retrograde date display in the upper part of the dial. The movement features 22K gold oscillating weight, adorned with Vacheron Constantin’s signature Maltese cross motif.

Grand Seiko SLGW003 “White Birch”

The pattern on the dial resembles the bark of a white birch tree, a motif that pays homage to the natural beauty surrounding the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. The dial design, coupled with the multi-faceted indices and polished hands, give the watch a distinctive and refined look.

The Grand Seiko SLGW003 is powered by a manually wound, high-beat movement operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour (10 beats per second). This high frequency ensures excellent timekeeping precision, while the 80-hour power reserve guarantees long-lasting performance.
