ForbesToday's 'Wordle' #1035 Hints, Clues And Answer For Friday, April 19th

It’s Saturday and I am sick. I’ve felt like I was fighting off a bug all week, sleeping more than usual, still tired, a bit achey. But on Thursday I managed to get to hot yoga and an OrangeTheory HIIT workout and thought I must have beaten whatever it was.

Then Friday morning I woke up early with a sore throat and congestion and realized that my first bad cold of the year was on the nicest weekend of the year. It’s gorgeous outside and I’m a sniffly, achey, wiped out mess. Woe is me! Let me complain some more! Nothing is more fun than self-pity!

I’m not to sick to Wordle, that’s for sure. So let’s get ‘er done.

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Clear.

The Clue: Today’s Wordle has more consonants than vowels.

Wordle Analysis

It’s 4/20 so I think maybe today’s Wordle is a bit . . . ironic? That may be accidental, but it’s still funny. I guessed REBEL because I just wrote a review of the insanely awful new Zack Snyder movie, Rebel Moon Part 2, and REBEL was on my mind. It left me with a whopping 261 words. CLOUT slashed that down to just 5, and then I made the lucky guess. I actually chose LUCID because a few of the words I came up with (including LUCKY) had an ‘L’' and I just lucked out.

Competitive Wordle Score

I get 1 point for guessing in three and zero for tying the Bot. 1 point! Huzzah!

How To Play Competitive Wordle

Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.

If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word 'lucid' comes from the Latin word "lucidus," meaning "light, bright, clear." This in turn derives from "lux," the Latin word for "light." The sense of "clear" in English as used in "lucid explanation" or "lucid dream" (where one has a clear awareness of dreaming) dates back to the late 16th century. The concept of clarity is metaphorically related to brightness or light, which illuminates and makes things visible and understandable. Thus, 'lucid' in both its literal and figurative senses refers to something that is easily understood or clear in thought and expression.
