Modern Estate Coming To Arizona’s Prestigious Paradise Valley Asks $16.5 Million

A planned estate at the base of one of Paradise Valley’s iconic mountains brings a new level of ultraluxury to Arizona’s wealthiest enclave. The to-be-built, $16.495 million home sits on 1.3 acres in one of the top-tier locations in the area.

It’s one of a dozen homes that make up the new ultra-exclusive Silver Sky community located at the base of Mummy Mountain, a landmark peak not far from the more famous Camelback Mountain.

The four-bedroom residence located at 6123 East Ironwood Drive, No. 11, will have 9,444 square feet of polished living space once completed. Construction will begin in spring and is expected to finish in 18 to 22 months.

Named “Aquarius,” the Drewett Works Architecture design calls for a rectangular-shaped modern contemporary with steel-frame construction and soft-colored stone facade. Patios on multiple levels are designed to capture 360-degree views.

“The views are phenomenal,” says agent Kirk Linehan of RETSY, who share’s the listing with colleague Babbi Gabel. “From the rooftop deck of the house, Mummy Mountain is literally 100 yards away. It’s going to be sprawling right above you.” More distant views to the north and east include McDowell Mountain and Pinnacle Peak as well as city lights.

In addition to the views, water features define the heart of the home. Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors will open to an infinity pool and spa that extend into the home. The living room appears to float atop the large pool.

The indoor-outdoor design allows owners to have a continuous entertaining space that extends across the kitchen, dining room and living room. There’s also a secluded backyard and firepit in the plans.

A chef’s kitchen with Wolf cooking range and Sub-Zero refrigerator, indoor-outdoor bar, four-car garage and temperature-controlled wine wall that holds more than 300 bottles are some of the planned amenities for the desert dwelling.

The gated property will be landscaped by Berghoff Design Group to increase privacy and aesthetic appeal.

Who might be a potential buyer? With so many high-net-worth individuals moving to Arizona, it could be a second or third home or a primary residence for a family who may want to live there full time. It’s also a house that may be attractive to pro athletes because of the indoor-outdoor style and amenities, Linehan says.

Mummy Mountain in the Phoenix Mountains sits at 2,260-plus feet above sea level. About 320 acres atop the mountain are protected by the Paradise Valley Mountain Preserve Trust. The longtime JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa is located on the mountain’s southern slope.

In the 1940s, Mummy Mountain was known as Windy Gulch. Swiss businessman Charlie Mieg bought the land and realized the name had little marketing appeal for selling real estate. He felt the land formation resembled “an Egyptian mummy lying down,” according to an online trust history, and the name was changed.
