Flyers have another way to relax before their flight when visiting Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, which also happens to be the busiest airport in the world. On February 14, 2024, American Express opened a Centurion Lounge at ATL. The new lounge is the largest Centurion Lounge to date.
American Express Centurion Lounge In Atlanta
The new AMEX lounge has features that are inspired by the local area. Located in Concourse E near gate E11, the Centurion Lounge is a whopping 26,000 square feet. Here’s what you can expect when visiting the lounge.
Art and Design
Atlanta has been called “the city in the forest” as trees surround the area. This idea inspired designers to feature a 50-year-old olive tree in the main area. There is also a 3,850-square-foot sculpture that reminds visitors of a forest canopy. If visitors prefer outdoor space, they can sit in one of several outdoor terraces new to the Centurion Lounge. Heaters and fans have also been installed so the terraces can be used throughout the year.
The art in the lounge also comes from local artists. Artist Lucha Rodríguez created a textural piece of the American Express watch dog, Michi Meko created a large multimedia piece reminiscent of the Georgia landscape, and Evan Blackwell Helgeson painted a 60-foot mural of leaf-shaped items that extend from the interior dining area to an exterior terrace.
Food
Local Chef (and former flight attendant) Deborah VanTrece has curated the menu at the Centurion Lounge. Featuring a modern take on soul food, visitors can enjoy items such as Black Eyed Pea Biryani, Za'atar Grilled Chicken Thighs with Green Tomato Chimichurri, and Twisted Soul Salad with Strawberry Peppercorn Vinaigrette. Vegan and gluten-free options with fresh and local ingredients are also available.
Drink
Another exciting new feature that debuted in Atlanta is Centurion Lounge’s first dedicated whiskey bar, The Reserve by American Express. Award-winning mixologist Jim Meehan has curated a menu with five whiskey cocktails, such as Drink a Peach with peach-flavored whiskey and bitters and Mayme, Tailored, highlighting an American whiskey with ginger beer.
For those who prefer other drinks, a fully stocked bar plus ten wines that Centurion Lounge Wine Director Anthony Giglio personally selected are also available. Alcohol-free options are an additional offering.
Amenities
Signature Centurion Lounge amenities are also available, including phone booths, workstations, plenty of seating areas, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi. Shower suites and premium restrooms can also be found in the lounge.
Summary
ATL is the world’s busiest airport, with millions of travelers visiting annually. To help make travel more relaxing, AMEX has opened its largest Centurion Lounge, with inspiration from the local area. Visitors can also find the amenities they’ve come to expect at these premium lounges, including plenty of seating, curated food and drink, and the introduction of outdoor terraces.
