Linkin Park’s New Album Has Become A Quick Global Smash

Following

Linkin Park returned with their first new release of 2024 a little more than a week ago when they dropped Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000–2023). The greatest hits collection has been out for just about seven days, and it has now started appearing on charts all around the world, quickly reaching the highest tiers in several places.

Papercuts launches at No. 4 in the U.K. this week. The set marks the highest position the band has debuted a title in on the tally since 2017. That year, their final album of original material, One More Light, launched in that position.

Linkin Park has now snagged nine top 10 titles on the U.K. albums chart. They started their successful run in 2001, when their debut full-length Hybrid Theory reached the ranking of the most-consumed projects in that country. It eventually climbed to No. 4, which it turns out is something of a lucky number for the band.

Papercuts is the third-highest debut of the week in the U.K. James’ Yummy opens in first place, while Mark Knopfler’s One Deep River enters the race at No. 3. Three more titles from Kris Barras Band, English Teacher, and Gun also launch inside the top 10.

Linkin Park’s success with Papercuts isn’t limited to the U.K. The compilation also started inside the top 10 on albums charts in Australia, New Zealand, and Scotland. It appears on other, similar rankings, though not within the highest tier, in plenty of other locales, and these are still early days for the title.

In a few days, there’s a good chance that Papercuts will hit the top 10 in the U.S. The set stands a good shot at cracking the loftiest space on the Billboard 200, and it will almost certainly become another huge win for Linkin Park on a variety of rock-focused tallies as well.
