Pearl Jam Owns More Than One-Third Of An Entire Billboard Chart

Following

Pearl Jam dominates many of Billboard’s rock charts this week. The band’s new album Dark Matter is a quick winner on all of the album-focused tallies in the various rock genres, while many of the tracks featured on the set have also become smashes–if only momentary ones–on a number of other lists.

The group’s power is most evident on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, which ranks the most-consumed tracks in the U.S. that Billboard classifies under the hard rock label. On that tally, Pearl Jam occupies more than one-third of all the available spaces, which is definitely a first for them.

On this week’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, Pearl Jam claims nine spots, all with tracks from their new album Dark Matter. The ranking only includes 25 spaces, so that means the rockers occupy 36% of the entire tally–a little more than one-third of the list.

Pearl Jam kicks things off brilliantly with a new No. 1. “Wreckage,” the latest single from Dark Matter, wastes no time in becoming another leader for the band. It debuts atop the tally with ease.

On this week’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, Pearl Jam fills a trio of rungs inside the top 10 alone. In addition to “Wreckage,” the title track and first single from the project is steady at No. 4. New tune “Scared of Fear” opens at No. 6.

Four songs debut inside the top 20, but below No. 10. Another track, “Running,” returns to the list at No. 18. It arrived and peaked at No. 9 shortly before Dark Matter dropped.

One more track from Dark Matter also arrives on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. “Setting Sun” opens at No. 22 on the tally this frame. Only two cuts from the new album, "Waiting For Stevie" and “Got to Give,” fail to reach the list during this first week.

Pearl Jam dramatically improves their career total number of wins on the Hot Hard Rock Songs tally this frame. They have thus far placed a total of 10 tracks on the roster. Seven of those debut this time around.
