This week, The St. Regis Venice welcomed an enticing new arrival. But not the kind you might imagine. The chic hotel’s newest resident is not a Hollywood celebrity, but an ultra-exclusive Rare Cask Cognac from LOUIS XIII by Rémy Martin.

What Is A ‘Rare Cask’?
A “rare cask” is a very exclusive tierçon (a word used to describe a special type of large oak barrel, used for the ageing of eaux-de-vie, or Cognacs) singled out from the hundreds of other century-old tierçons, due to its specific characteristics. The particular rare cask currently on offer at The St. Regis Venice is LOUIS XIII Rare Cask 42.1, unveiled in 2023. It was discovered when a single tierçon was found to have an exceptional aromatic profile, giving a distinct expression of LOUIS XIII Cognac never before encountered, and with an unexpected 42.1% ABV.
The LOUIS XIII Rare Cask 42.1 is housed in a spectacular black crystal decanter, developed by Baccarat crystal masters who pushed the boundaries of their artistry to recreate the iconic LOUIS XIII vessel in black crystal. Each decanter is made by a team of some twenty master craftsmen working in union to perform more than fifty operations against a perfectly opaque blackness. The neck of the decanter is dressed in palladium, a precious metal that ranks alongside gold and platinum. Each numbered crystal decanter is a work of art in its own right, requiring nearly two weeks to complete.

A ‘Rare and Exclusive’ Product

Starting this week, the LOUIS XIII Rare Cask 42.1 is available at The St. Regis’ acclaimed Arts Bar. Guests will have the option of ordering it in 10 ml, 25 ml and 50 ml options, with prices starting at a cool $1,270 for 10 ml (equivalent to 0.33 fluid ounces).
Additionally, The St. Regis Venice is offering a LOUIS XIII Rare Cask package to guests wishing to take full advantage of the exclusive product. The package, available now until the end of the year, includes accommodation in one of the hotel’s most opulent suites, complete with private transfers and the legendary St. Regis butler service, as well as a bespoke tasting of the LOUIS XIII Rare Cask 42.1 on the suite’s private terrace.
