Canelo Alvarez-Jaime Munguia Fight Night Boxing And Betting In Las Vegas

Following

Cinco de Mayo weekend is as big as it gets in Las Vegas. Following a big day of horse racing and the 150th Kentucky Derby Saturday, a pair of Mexican fighters make it a must see boxing night on the Las Vegas Strip. The headliner event near 11 p.m. Eastern at T-Mobile Arena features prohibitive favorite Canelo Alvarez defending his undisputed super middleweight title vs. unbeaten countryman Jaime Munguia.

“You can expect a full-out Mexican war,” Munguia said. “You’re not going to be disappointed. It’s going to be a great fight on Saturday night.”

Alvarez-Munguia History

Alvarez is an enormously popular four-division champion who has established himself as one of history’s great boxers. He’s also one of the world’s highest-paid athletes taking in more than $100 million in boxing in 2023. The undisputed 33-year-old super middleweight champion is 60-2-2 with 39 knockouts. The 27-year-old Munguia has not been in as many big matches against stronger fighters, but he’s still 43-0 with 34 victories by knockout.

  • WBC interim world welterweight title - Mario Barrios (-1300) vs. Fabian Maidana (+810)
  • WBC interim world featherweight champion Brandon Figueroa (-1450) vs. Jessie Magdaleno (+840)

Big favorites for a big night of boxing in Las Vegas. An impressive Alvarez win would make a potential future fight against David Benavidez that much bigger.

You can bet on it.
