Beyerdynamic Celebrates Centenary With DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition Headphones

Following

Classic German audio brand beyerdynamic is celebrating its centenary by announcing a limited-edition version of the classic DT 770 PRO headphones. These closed-back headphones were originally announced at NAMM 2024 and are handmade in Germany. They blend the reference sound of beyerdynamic’s DT 770 PRO model with the dynamic STELLAR.45 driver.

The DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition now also features the convenience of a detachable Mini-XLR cable while a recess in the headband padding lowers the pressure on the wearer’s fontanelle, the most sensitive part of the skull. The designers claim the DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition can be worn for hours on end, which is just as well when you have a whole album’s worth of music to mix.

Like premium models from other classic brands, the beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition offer excellent sound quality, replaceable parts, low impedance, plus great comfort levels. The headphones are aimed at studio professionals, artists, filmmakers and producers.

Andreas Rapp is beyerdynamic’s CEO: “We wanted to commemorate our 100-year milestone by creating headphones that pay homage to our past and empower studio professionals of the future to work however and wherever their inspiration strikes. By combining the beloved features of the DT 770 PRO with the latest driver technology of the DT 700 PRO X, whether you’re in a bustling studio or recording at home, the DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition delivers an unparalleled performance.”

The German brand has been in the audio business since 1924 and launched its first pair of dynamic headphone—the DT 48—way back in 1937. In 1985, the DT 770 PRO and DT 990 PRO studio headphones were introduced and it’s fair to say that a lot of broadcast and recording studios have now adopted these models for use by both artists and engineers.

In 2021, beyerdynamic unveiled its PRO X series, which offered the kind of sound that modern creators were demanding for recording and streaming in the digital age. By combining the best characteristics of the DT PRO and DT PRO X lines with improved comfort, acoustics and flexibility, the result is the all-new DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition.

To mark beyerdynamic’s first 100 years, the designers of the DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition headphones have hot-stamped a limited-edition anniversary emblem in silver on the side of the headband, featuring the beyerdynamic logo.

The DT 770 PRO X Limited Edition also ships with ultra-soft, gray velour ear pads, a 3m Mini-XLR to 3.5mm jack cable, a 3.5mm to 6.3mm jack adapter, a drawstring bag and an anniversary booklet showing plenty of information on beyerdynamic’s long history.

Pricing & Availability: The beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO X studio headphones are available in limited quantities from beyerdynamic.com, the Guitar Center and Sweetwater for $199. Additional availability will be announced later this year.
