Four Seasons Hotels And Resorts Expands And Re-Imagines In Tanzania

Following

Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is one of the world’s most spectacular destinations to see wildlife, both in the surrounding Serengeti National Park and on-property where elephants and buffalos come to drink at its active watering hole. The striking terrain and abundance of animal life will entice first-time safari goers and seasoned enthusiasts alike with thrilling game drives, educational walking safaris and outdoor bush dinners. Even if you’ve visited the lodge before,

2024 marks a new look for the property and with the opening Four Seasons Resort Zanzibar, allows for a quick beach trip before or after your safari adventure.

Hot Air Balloons, Game Drives and Bush TV

With its strategic location, Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti is an excellent place to witness the annual Great Migration where millions of animals traverse the land. However, even if you can’t make it to Tanzania during that time, there’s always something interesting to experience there no matter what time of year. If you want to see the splendid Serengeti from above, book an early-morning hot air balloon adventure to enjoy the plains from the sky. Morning game drives also start early (though not before sunrise like the hot air balloon) or you could choose to sleep in to wake up to giraffes, zebras and elephants drinking water near your room in a marvelous natural spectacle. The pool provides an uninterrupted view across the watering hole with the savannah as its backdrop,” says Trevor Van De Ven, Senior Director of PR and Communications. “Elephants have an incredible memory and so they return frequently to the watering hole as they traverse the plains.” To ensure you don’t miss the moment, there’s a 24-hour livestream of the watering hole on your TV, jokingly referred to as “bush TV”.

The lodge which has been open since 2012 is getting a few design and sustainability updates this year; the main buffet dining area Kulas will reveal a new appearance, and there will be other soft finishings and touches found throughout the property. There will also be a new private dining option, the Vineyard, which will serve wine-paired five or seven-course dinners. To reduce its environmental footprint, the lodge will also be getting a solar farm as its primary source of power this year.

Much of the action at Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti takes place during the day when it’s easy to spot wildlife, but the evening is also a magical time to be there. Dining at Boma, the African cuisine restaurant with an open-air firepit is a must both for its culinary delights and chance to immerse oneself in Maasai culture. Wear comfortable shoes because you may be asked to dance and jump with them; renowned for their sky-high jumps, you’ll want the right footwear to try and keep up.

Safari and Sandy Beaches

Combining the wonders of the Serengeti with the beachside splendor of Zanzibar is a popular vacation itinerary, and next year this trip becomes even easier with the opening of Four Seasons Zanzibar. Zanzibar, an island with a complex history and wide range of activities from snorkeling to swimming with horses, is just a short one-hour flight away from Seronera Airstrip in the Central Serengeti. “From a guest point of view, it’s expected to offer the ideal combination of safari and island getaway while staying within the same country,” says Van De Ven. Four Seasons Zanzibar is expected to be completed in 2025 and the renderings show a sprawling beachside location and spacious pool overlooking the water.

Tanzania is renowned for its beautiful landscapes, captivating wildlife and stunning coastline. Booking a stay at Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti and the upcoming Four Seasons Zanzibar allows guests to immerse themselves in a variety of adventures just an hour apart.
