Topline

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday attacked President Joe Biden for threatening to withhold weapons from Israel and accused him of siding with Hamas, hours after Biden said his administration would not supply Israel with weapons if it proceeded with its plan to invade the city of Rafah.

Key Facts

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “Joe Biden, whether he knows it or not, just said he will withhold weapons from Israel as they fight to eradicate Hamas Terrorists in Gaza.”

The former president then accused Biden of “taking the side of these terrorists, just like he has sided with the Radical Mobs taking over our college campuses.”

Trump then claimed the war in Gaza and Ukraine would not have started if he was still in the White House and said “we will be back, and once again demanding PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH!”

In a follow-up post, Trump mentioned the pro-Palestinian campus protests and blamed Biden for “weak colleges, like Columbia University, cancelling the graduations for thousands of students.”

He also referred to the student protestors as “Pro-Terrorist Mobs” and alleged Biden’s donors were funding them.

Crucial Quote

In his posts, Trump accused Biden of being weak on both issues, saying: “Biden is weak, corrupt, and leading the world straight into World War III…Crooked Joe is caving to the Far-Left Pro-Terrorist Mobs because his donors are funding them, and he is too WEAK to demand LAW AND ORDER!”

Key Background

In an interview with CNN on Wednesday, Biden said the U.S. will not supply weapons to Israel if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decides to press forward with a ground offensive on the city of Rafah—where more than 1.2 million people are taking refuge. The president said the U.S. remained committed to providing Israel with defensive weapons—like components for its Iron Dome missile defense system—but added: “We’re not going to supply the weapons and artillery shells” if Israel invades Rafah. Earlier on Wednesday, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed reports the U.S. had paused one shipment of “high-payload munitions” to Israel. According to reports, citing senior U.S. officials, the halted shipment included 1,800 2,000-pound bombs and 1,700 500-pound bombs. The pause was prompted by concerns regarding the use of large bombs over the densely populated urban areas in Rafah.

Surprising Fact

Trump’s criticism of Biden was echoed by long time rival in the Republican Party, Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, who wrote on X: “We stand by allies, we don’t second guess them. Biden’s dithering on Israel weapons is bad policy and a terrible message to Israel, our allies, and the world.
