The Fortem Car Trunk Organizer is available in two-compartment and three-compartment designs. Both are modular and fold down to a single compartment, or it can fold away completely. The bottom has small textured anchors to keep it from slipping around, and there are adjustable tie-down straps if you want it really secured.

This organizer is made of soft yet tough waterproof nylon and features reinforced sides, partitions and floor panels. Like your favorite reusable tote bag, the floor panel folds up and quickly collapses the entire organizer. The two-compartment model we tested is 22 inches long. The three-compartment model spans 30 inches. When folded down into a single compartment, it is 13 inches long. Both models are 12.5 inches tall and 14.5 inches wide. The whole unit fully collapses, and in the case of the two-compartment version, it compresses down to about 3 inches.

Is it Practical and Easy to Transport?

The modular design of the Fortem Car Trunk Organizer is part of what makes it so great. In its largest form, it might be too large for the trunk of a small car. But the unused sections can collapse and snap securely so it won’t expand again on its own. Each side has a handle that makes it easy to carry in and out of the car.

How User-Friendly is Fortem Car Trunk Organizer?

This trunk organizer can hold a lot of items and there are helpful exterior pockets. One section includes a modular velcro divider and the other section has a mesh netting pocket. But we wish there were a few more organizing elements inside the actual product. The exterior pockets are easily accessible, but filling them up will increase the product’s footprint. You may find that you want to purchase a smaller organizer to fit within this larger one.

Is this a Quality Product?

George Kennedy

This trunk organizer is very durable. Mesh pockets might wear or sag over time, but the core construction seems to be high quality. It is designed to handle heavy or sharp items. Given that this is technically a “soft case” the cover is impressively firm and uses the partition and velcro to make a solid base. The only thing we would have wanted to see out of the cover was perhaps a zipper option or even the ability to install a lock. This would not dissuade the most determined thieves, but it would perhaps be just enough of a deterrent for others. One thing to note when collapsing the organizer down to its single-compartment configuration—the collapsed portion of the organizer changes the center of gravity. This should not be a problem when it’s loaded up with items, but it will be off-balance to some degree.

Our Verdict:

Whether you fill it up with tools, cleaning supplies, extra device charging cables, an ice scraper, jumper cables or extra gloves and hats, this organizer can carry it all. It expands and collapses to meet your storage needs and it is designed for some abuse. With the exception of the exterior mesh pockets, it really feels like some real-life experience was brought into the design of the Fortem Car Trunk Organizer. The fact that you can store items on top of the lid when closed adds a lot of versatility as it minimizes the space taken up by the organizer. If you plan on storing a lot of smaller items (like charging cables and extra ear pods) the only thing we would recommend is another organizer within the unit. Otherwise, this is a tremendous value for a product that has been designed with the real world in mind.
