  • A well-known international trade and investment expert, Merit Janow has extensive experience in academia, government and business. She is a non-executive chairman of Mastercard and director of American Funds/Capital Group and Aptiv Corp.
  • Janow has taught at Columbia Law and Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) for the past three decades. At SIPA, she launched new programs focusing on cyber security and the digital economy.
  • In 2003, the World Trade Organization elected her as one of seven members of its Appellate Body. She was the first female member of the Appellate Body, which adjudicates trade disputes for the WTO's 164 member nations.
