A Look Inside DJ Zedd’s $19-Million Los Angeles Retreat

Following

It’s been a busy year for electronic music icon Zedd and his real estate agents. Nearly a year ago, the Grammy-winning musician sold his Beverly Hills estate to Black-ish creator Kenya Barris for $18.4 million before purchasing his newly built Encino mansion for roughly the same price. Now, Zedd is listing another Encino trophy home, which he acquired from Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner in 2021.

Originally purchased for $15.2 million—the second-highest recorded sale in Encino at that time—the roughly 14,780-square-foot mansion is now on the market for $19 million. David Kramer and Andrew Buss of Hilton & Hyland, who handled the German DJ’s previous real estate transactions, hold the listing.

Consistent with the musician’s past real estate portfolio, the gated property showcases a sleek, ultramodern design. Clean lines with warm wood accents define both the exterior and interior for a refined finish that avoids sterility.

Wellness was made a priority, says Zedd, who saw the home’s calming interior and location as the perfect venue for his health-based amenity additions.

“The home inspired healthy living. I used the last couple of years to turn the property into a personal wellness retreat with a gym, cardio room, swimmer’s pool, saunas, cold plunges and massage room,” the artist shared.

Raised in Germany, the Grammy Award winner says he recognized a European sensibility in the sprawling estate. “The blending of the home’s organic interiors with the natural surroundings tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city furthers this concept of healthy living and reminds me of my upbringing in Germany,” he added.

Located down the street from his latest purchase, the 2019-built estate is tucked away in the neighborhood of Royal Oaks, known for its distinguished homes and privacy. An airy interior is achieved thanks to heightened ceilings and walls of movable glass.

Grand living areas frame outdoor spaces, including sprawling lawns, patios and an oversized swimmer’s pool with spa. Designer materials including aged wood and imported stone run throughout.

The primary suite boasts a spa-like bathroom, massive dual walk-in closets and a wraparound balcony with views of oak tree canopies.

According to the musician, one of the best spaces in the estate is not even found in the main residence: “I love the state-of-the-art Dolby Atmos home theater on the second floor of the guest house, which is an indescribably entertaining movie-watching experience.”

Other highlights include a British-style pub, professional music studio and security booth.

“This is one of the most impressive homes we've ever seen. Not just in the Encino Royal Oaks, but across Los Angeles–the setting, design, materials, quality, layout, scale, privacy,” says Kramer and Buss, who have represented Zedd in all of his recent transactions. “Everything is perfectly executed and balanced. The moment you step through the front door you know it's going to be a special experience.”

Historically not known for eight-figure listings and celebrity homes, Encino has seen a rapid rise in $10 million-plus sales in the last few years as wealthy buyers opt for more living space and less congestion.
