All-wheel drive, 20-inch wheels and Apple CarPlay compatibility are standard on all 2022 QX55 models. Infiniti

Infiniti announced pricing for its newest 2022 QX55 compact crossover, which is based on the slightly larger QX50. The QX55 features a distinctive sloping roofline and other styling cues that echo the original Infiniti FX.

Pricing for the 2022 QX55 starts at $47,525, including a $1,025 destination charge, and is due to arrive on dealer lots in April.

Three trims will be available for the QX55’s maiden model year: Luxe, Essential and Sensory. All come with a load of standard features including all-wheel drive, heated front seats, a power moonroof, 20-inch wheels and wireless Apple CarPlay capability.

Every QX55 is powered by Infiniti’s turbocharged 2.0-liter variable-compression four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission. Rated at 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, it works in concert with a drive mode selector to provide a more engaging driving experience in sporting situations or fade into the background for a quiet ride.

Technology and Safety

Inside, the QX55 gets Infiniti’s dual-screen infotainment system, which uses an 8-inch upper touchscreen and a 7-inch lower touchscreen. The top display runs Apple CarPlay and entertainment features, while the lower unit manages climate settings, vehicle menus and other features.

As a new model, the QX55 hasn’t been crash-tested by the major safety groups. However, the QX50 it is based on received a five-star rating from the NHTSA and a “Superior” rating from the IIHS. While not the final word on QX55 safety, the results do point in a favorable direction.

The QX55 comes standard with a long list of advanced assist features to boost safety and driver awareness. Every model gets forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, forward collision warning, automatic high beams, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts.

Scheduled to arrive in showrooms this April, reservations for the QX55 are open now. Infiniti says that customers who reserve the vehicle through its online system will be first in line to purchase the QX55 in spring 2021 but notes that demand may exceed the initial supply, which could cause a delay. The automaker also says that a selection of gifts will be offered when the purchase process is complete.
