Audi e-tron Overview

The Audi e-tron is a rare example of understated electrification. You have to squint hard, or more likely listen close, to tell the difference between this EV and a more conventional gas-powered Audi vehicle. Available as a SUV or four-door Sportback hatchback, underneath its sleek exterior resides a pair of electric motors, one front and one rear, and Audi’s trademark quattro all-wheel drive system. A 95.3-kWh battery provides the juice, and maximum total system output is up to 402 horsepower with 262 lb-ft of torque, or 490 lb-ft under full boost mode—enough to launch it to 60 mph in a claimed 5.5 seconds.

Thirty minutes on a 150 kW public charger is said to provide 163 miles of the vehicle’s 222-mile driving range. Inside, the e-tron is a typically luxe two-row experience, with leather seating and wood inlays and a panoramic sunroof. The base model includes the “virtual cockpit” that uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel to display driver information, such as navigation overlaying optional Google Earth imagery. Dual stacked central touchscreens run Audi’s usual array of high-tech features, such as optional night vision on the Prestige trim.

Trim Specifications

New for 2021, the base Premium trim on the E-Tron SUV is nearly $9,000 cheaper than the prior base Premium Plus model, and its available on both the regular E-Tron and Sportback versions. The premium trim comes well-equipped with 20-inch 5-spoke wheels, LED headlights, adaptive air suspension, virtual cockpit with 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, heated power-adjustable front seats with leather appointments, a Bang and Olufsen audio system and additional Audi features and safety systems. The optional Convenience Plus Package ($3,500) adds many advanced driver assistance systems and Black Optic exterior.

Stepping up to the middle-grade Premium Plus trim adds select features of the Convenience Plus package and adds upgraded LED headlights, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, ambient interior LED lighting and other improvements. The Black Optic package ($1,250) becomes optionally available to add black exterior accents. The top-of-the-line Prestige trim adds massaging front seats with high-grade Valcona leather, a head-up display, power door closers, more advanced driver assistance systems, such as detecting and mitigiating potential cross traffic collisions, and many other interior upgrades. A towing package ($750) is available on all trims that enables the E-Tron to tow up to 4,000 pounds.
