Jaguar F-TYPE Overview
The Jaguar F-Type hasn’t received a major redesign in nine years. The fact that the 2020 model, whether a coupe or convertible, still looks gorgeous this many years after its launch is testament to the timelessness of both the F-Type’s classic GT proportions and Jaguar’s masterful, heritage-inspired styling themes.
Seriously, nine years is an eternity in the automotive world, especially with sports cars, which are arguably purchased as much as fashion statements as driving delight. And what delights indeed await drivers of the F-Type, whether they be in the lightweight, nimble P300 model with its 296-horsepower turbo four-cylinder, the rip-snortin’ V8-powered 575-horsepower SVR or any of the three powertrain choices in between, the more powerful among them coming standard with all-wheel drive. Every F-Type’s interior is a snug fit and sits very low to the ground, but from the tailored upholstery to the sculpted seat frames to the 10-inch-wide, high-resolution infotainment system, the F-Type is as luxurious as it is sporty. In short, it is a masterpiece in both convertible and coupe configurations.
Trim Specifications
The base LX trim includes cruise control, an 8-inch infotainment screen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility, and 60/40 folding rear seats, as well as a pretty comprehensive suite of safety features including forward-, rear- and blind-spot collision warning, lane departure warning and more. The S adds 18-inch machined aluminum wheels, dual exhaust tips, and a ten-way power-adjustable seat with lumbar support. The EX trim finds a nice balance between driving experience and value. Its turbocharged engine and quick dual-clutch transmission offer some semblance of engagement, though the Optima is a docile creature overall. The EX does, however, feature an impressive list of standard features including leather seats, heated front seats, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a wireless phone charger, a wood grain accent trim and adaptive cruise control. The EX Premium adds ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and LED interior lighting while the SX moves up to the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
