Introduction

The Huntington Voice Lower Rate Credit Card®* definitely offers a lower APR, but you likely need great credit to qualify for this rate. This card’s regular APR ranges from 15.24% to 27.24%. So depending on your creditworthiness, you could be paying significantly higher than the national credit card average. This card is the lowest APR card Huntington offers. If you currently bank with Huntington and want to keep all your finances in the same institution with no annual fee, it may be worth considering.

For those looking to pay down debt, the 0% intro balance transfer APR offer may be appealing. You’ll receive 0% intro APR on balance transfers for 12 billing cycles on balance transfers made within 90 days of account opening, followed by a 15.24% - 27.24% variable APR. A 3% or $10 balance transfer fee applies. This card doesn’t offer a 0% introductory purchase APR, so it’s not the best option to defer interest on upcoming purchases. While balance transfers can be an effective means to pay off a balance during the promotional 0% introductory APR, make sure you evaluate the fees associated with transferring the balance, and ensure that you can make a significant reduction to that balance during the promotion period.

You also won’t receive a welcome bonus or rewards for card usage.

How the Huntington Voice Low Rate Credit Card Stacks Up

Huntington Voice Lower Rate Credit Card®* vs. Huntington® Cashback Credit Card

If you’re partial to Huntington Bank, consider the Huntington Cashback World Elite card. Cardholders earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases with no annual fee or foreign transaction fees. This card offers access to Mastercard’s 24/7 concierge, but compared to other cards with a 0% introductory APR, Huntington Cashback doesn’t offer much in terms of perks.

You may be surprised to learn that the regular APR on this card isn’t much higher than the Huntington Voice: 17.24% to 29.24% variable. Plus, the cash-back card comes with the same 0% introductory balance transfer APR for the first 12 billing cycles on transfers made within the first 90 days. After the first year, the regular APR of 17.24% to 29.24% applies. Balance transfers incur a fee of $10 or 3%, whichever is greater.

Huntington Voice Lower Rate Credit Card®* vs. AFCU Supreme Visa Credit Card

If you need to carry a balance and your goal is to find the lowest APR you can, a credit card issued by a credit union is likely your best bet. Unlike credit cards offered by banks, credit unions require membership. Any U.S. resident can join Andrews Federal Credit Union (AFCU). If you don’t live in Washington, DC or work for one of the eligible employers, you can join the American Consumer Council at no cost.

AFCU members can apply for the Supreme Visa credit card with a regular APR of 13.24% to 18.00% variable. Qualified applicants will receive no higher than an 18.00% APR which is lower than the national average, making this card truly a low-rate card for all cardholders. This Visa card also offers a 0% introductory purchase APR for six months on purchases made within the first 90 days followed by the regular APR. There is no annual fee or foreign transaction fees.

You can also shop around as some credit union credit cards offer rates as low as 6.90%. The credit unions with the best rates have stricter membership requirements, but if you qualify this may be the way to go.

Huntington Voice Lower Rate Credit Card®* vs. Wells Fargo Reflect® Card*

While a low-rate card can save you significant money on interest when you carry a balance, choosing a card with a longer introductory APR could help you get out of debt entirely. The Wells Fargo Reflect® Card* offers a significantly longer intro APR: 0% intro APR for 21 months from account opening on purchases and qualifying balance transfers. A 18.24%, 24.74%, or 29.99% variable APR applies thereafter. Balance transfers made within 120 days qualify for the intro APR and a balance transfer fee of 5%, min $5 applies.

This card offers additional months of introductory 0% interest plus cellphone protection, roadside dispatch, zero liability protection as well as free access to your FICO Score. If you can pay off your balance in the 12 billing cycles the Huntington Voice Lower Rate Credit Card®* allows, that may be a better choice. There is also a foreign transaction fee associated with the Wells Fargo card, so if you travel abroad, the Huntington Voice is the winner.

Is the Huntington Voice Low Rate Credit Card for You?

While you could qualify for an APR below the national average, there’s no guarantee that you will. Evaluate your goals and consider a card with a better intro APR if your hope is to reduce debt or pay off a large purchase before interest applies. If you want a card that has the lowest APR day-to-day, a credit card from a credit union will likely prove a better choice.
