Acura TLX Overview

With its well-appointed interior, whisper-quiet cabin, optional 290-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and low starting price, the 2020 Acura TLX is holding its ground as the model of choice for starter luxury sedans. And along with an impressive lineup of standard features, the TLX offers a wide range of trims and options, such as all-wheel-drive for both drivetrains (base 2.4-liter and premium 3.5-liter) and red leather interiors. With no significant upgrades for 2020, Acura is trying to entice new buyers with the PMC edition, featuring a special high-gloss nano-pigment previously available only on the NSX supercar, along with a numbered plaque mounted in the center console.

Trim Specifications

Though the TLX’s list of trims looks complicated, it mostly boils down to a handful of yes or no questions: Do you want a four-cylinder or a V6, all-wheel-steering (which automatically shifts between the rear and front-wheel control) or all-wheel-drive, and red leather or no? No matter how you configure a TLX, you’ll get Apple Carplay. Upgrading to the Technology package brings Premium Audio System with 10 Speakers including a subwoofer, Navigation, and more. The A-Spec adds heated and ventilated sport seats, mild exterior styling upgrades and host of additional features. The Advance package brings heated rear seats, a surround-view camera and additional niceties. But that’s just a primer; the trim shakeout features plenty of minutia so you’ll want to budget some time for research.

The 2020 TLX PMC Edition is assembled in the NSX facility by the same technicians. It combines the line-topping premium features of the TLX Advance Package with the sporty character of A-Spec, features Valencia Red Pearl paint and will be limited to 360 units.

Acura TLX Generations

First Generation

2014 to Present
The TLX debuted at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. It took four years for this price-conscious luxury sedan to get a significant refresh, with Acura improving noise reduction, classing up its wheels, fender and front fascia, and adding an Android and Apple-compatible infotainment system.
