Chevrolet Bolt EV Overview

Producing 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, the front-wheel-drive, four-door Bolt EV hatchback provides spirited acceleration in a compact package and is genuinely fun to drive. It’s practical too. With seating for five, the sub-compact SUV offers 41.6 inches of legroom in the front, 36.5 inches of legroom in the rear with a 16.9 cubic-foot cargo area that can expand to 56.6 cubic-feet with the second-row seats folded forward.

The Bolt EV offers a driving range of 259 miles on a single charge, and its 66 kWh battery pack can be fully recharged in 10 hours using a Level 2 240-volt charger or gain 100 miles of range in 30 minutes using a Level 3 DC fast-charging station (available DC fast charge option required). Once the leader among all-electric compact cars, the Bolt EV is still very competitive on range but is in need of a refresh (expected in late 2021) to keep pace with newcomers in the space that offer more features and advanced driver assistance systems. Until then, Chevrolet is offering generous cash allowances to make up for the federal tax credit that expired last year.

Trim Specifications

The base LT trim offers many standard features, including push-button start, cruise control, heated mirrors, six-way manually adjustable front bucket seats, a manually operated tilt and telescopic steering wheel and a six-speaker audio system with satellite radio. The Comfort and Convenience package includes a hands-free power programmable liftgate, heated driver and front passenger seats, automatic heated leather-wrapped steering wheel and auto-dimming inside rearview mirror for $555. The Premier trim includes the Comfort and Convenience package and adds heated rear seats, roof rails, bespoke aluminum wheels and an adjustable cargo floor, and makes available the infotainment package that upgrades the audio and adds wireless phone charging.

A DC fast-charging port is standard on the Premier trim and available for $750 on the LT. Two Driver Confidence packages are available on both trims. Driver Confidence I package includes a parking obstruction warning, rear cross traffic warning and blind spot warning for $495. Automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assistance, front pedestrian detection and braking and automatic high beams can be added for with the Driver Confidence II package for $495, but will also require the Driver Confidence I and Comfort and Convenience package, for a total cost of $1,545.
