Mercedes-Benz GLA Overview

Well into its first generation, the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine paired to a seven-speed automatic transmission that generates 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with a rear-wheel drivetrain. All-wheel-drive is an option. The GLA has a sporty interior with an 8-inch screen with a central controller and a 4.5-inch digital instrument display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is optional as is navigation. An available panoramic sunroof and 12-color ambient lighting brighten the interior. The power liftgate opens up to 17.2 cubic-feet of cargo capacity and expands to 43.6 cubic-feet with the 60/40 rear seats folded flat. A center pass through provides a convenient space to haul long sporting equipment such as skis without compromising all of the rear seating. It’s rumored that a full redesign of the GLA is slated for the 2021 model year.

Trim Specifications

The standard equipment in the GLA 250 feels fairly spartan—only power front seats, a power liftgate, Bluetooth audio, and an 8-inch display—everything else costs extra. All-wheel-drive is available for $2,000 more and includes off-road features, such as downhill speed regulation that automatically maintains a preset crawl speed. The Smartphone Integration package for $350 adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Compatibility and could negate the need for the $2,300 Multimedia package that adds navigation. The Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist for $1,500. The Premium package has blind spot monitoring, keyless entry and heated front seats for $1,900. The Parking Assistance package offers active parking assist, a surround-view camera and power-folding side mirrors for $1,400.
