After releasing a limited-time offer earlier this month on the Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card (Terms apply), American Express is extending more sweet welcome bonus offers to its personal Marriott co-branded credit cards. For a limited time, new cardholders of the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card (terms apply) and the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card (terms apply) have the chance to earn 125,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points or two 85,000-point free night awards, respectively.

Alongside other valuable perks already offered on these cards, these offers may sway you to hit submit on that card application.

New Marriott Bonvoy Bevy Amex Welcome Bonus Offer

Through November 1, 2023, new Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card cardholders can earn 125,000 Marriott Bonvoy bonus points after spending $5,000 in purchases on the card within the first six months.

If you are concerned about justifying the card’s $250 annual fee, this higher welcome offer may help you do so. Alongside other Marriott Bonvoy perks such as complimentary Gold Elite status and 15 elite night credits per calendar year, the card comes with strong earning rates: earn 6 Marriott Bonvoy® points per dollar of eligible purchases at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy and 4 points per dollar at restaurants worldwide and U.S. supermarkets (on up to $15,000 in combined purchases at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets per calendar year, then 2 points). 2 points per dollar on all other eligible purchases.

If this welcome offer interests you, be sure to mind the fine print. You may not be eligible to receive this offer if you currently hold or have had the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card or previous versions of the card. The welcome bonus offer is also not available to those who have had any Marriott Rewards or Bonvoy card in the last 30 days, including Bonvoy Business cards and Ritz-Carlton cards.

You’ll also want to make sure that you haven’t acquired the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card from Chase or the Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card from Chase in the past 90 days or received a cardmember welcome bonus (or upgrade offer) on those cards in the last 24 months.

New Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Amex Welcome Offer

Even though the time period for the limited-time offer is the same, the welcome offer for the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card differs. Also through November 1, 2023, new Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card  cardholders can earn two 85,000-point free night awards after spending $6,000 within the first six months of card membership. Each award can be used for one night at a participating hotel charging 85,000 Marriott Bonvoy points. Since Marriott added the option to top-off awards with up to 15,000 points, that means you can book two nights at up to 100,000 points each after the top-off.

This card does come with a much steeper $650 annual fee, but this can be quickly offset with the two 85,000-point free night awards and the $300 dining statement credit included with the card that can be used at restaurants worldwide.

Alongside complimentary Platinum Elite status and 25 elite night credits per calendar year that count toward earning status, cardholders earn 6 Marriott Bonvoy points for each dollar of eligible purchases at hotels participating in the Marriott Bonvoy® program, 3 points per dollar at restaurants worldwide and on flights booked directly with airlines and 2 points per dollar on all other eligible purchases.

There are some criteria that come with this card that may disqualify you from earning the welcome offer. Applicants who have or have had the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card, the Starwood Preferred Guest® American Express Luxury Card or previous versions of the card are ineligible, as well as applicants who have had one of the The Ritz-Carlton® cards from JPMorgan in the last 30 days. Additionally, anyone who has acquired the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Credit Card, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card or Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card from Chase in the last 90 days or received a new cardmember bonus from these cards in the last 24 months is not eligible.

Why a Marriott Bonvoy Amex Card Could Be Right for You

Partnered with these impressive welcome offers, both of Amex’s co-branded Marriott personal cards offer great value to customers who are able to maximize the cards’ benefits.

Earn Free Nights at Luxurious Stays

In addition to the two 85,000-point free night awards that come as a welcome bonus on the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card, cardholders receive one free night award each year after your card renewal month, also worth 85,000 points. This perk may also extend to cardholders of the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card, who receive one free night award worth 50,000 points after spending $15,000 on eligible purchases.

Between your free night awards, the welcome offer and points earned on card spending, you can book luxurious stays at Marriott properties worldwide. With a bit of research, you can find a variety of Marriott stays at valuable point redemptions. For example, The Westin Cozumel offers a beautiful beachfront stay for as low as 33,000 points per night. If you are looking to fully maximize an 85,000-point free night award, the Suiran, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Kyoto can be booked at 88,000 points per night, meaning you would only need to shell out 3,000 additional points per night.

By being flexible with your travel dates and doing some research across Marriott’s portfolio, the points earned with either of these cards can go a long way when booking upscale stays.

Earn Elite Status

A major perk of these Marriott cards is that they both come with complimentary elite status: the Bonvoy Bevy with Gold Elite status and the Bonvoy Brilliant with Platinum Elite status. Further, the Bonvoy Bevy gives you 15 elite night credits each calendar year towards the next level of elite status, while the Bonvoy Brilliant gives you 25 elite night credits.

Marriott Bonvoy Elite status comes with plenty of perks to make your stays that much more pleasant. Perks included in Gold Elite and Platinum Elite status are late checkout, point bonuses on hotel purchases and enhanced room upgrades based on availability. If you are able to use these bonus elite status credits to reach Titanium Elite or Ambassador Elite status, you could receive perks such as guaranteed room availability within 48 hours, the ability to choose your check-in and checkout time and personal assistance with all your stays.

Bottom Line

For Marriott loyalists or those who find themselves staying at a Marriott property a few times a year, the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card or the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card may be a solid addition to their wallets. If you think you can find the value in these cards to offset the annual fees, applying before November 1, 2023 to take advantage of the increased welcome bonus offers is a must.
