It’s an exciting day for travel enthusiasts; Point.me and American Express have teamed up to introduce a refined search experience for navigating the travel side of the Membership Rewards program. Coined “Point.me for Membership Rewards points,” the collaboration is aimed at simplifying the travel rewards process by offering a more seamless way to explore, compare and redeem award flights.

The program touts a user-friendly platform where eligible Amex cardholders can search flights and compare from over 150 airlines, and it’s all done in real time.

You won’t be able to book your award flight directly through Point.me, however, members will receive step by step guidance on the process—slideshow included.

Simplified Award Flight Searches

Membership Rewards is the flexible currency offered through American Express. These points can be earned through eligible spending on Membership Rewards credit cards. Points can then be redeemed for statement credits, gift cards, flights, hotels, etc. through Amex Travel and more.

If you really want to maximize your Membership Rewards points, transferring them to one of Amex’s travel partners will almost certainly give you the best value. However, Amex has over 20 transfer partners, so knowing which airline to transfer your points to for the greatest return can be overwhelming. This is where Point.me comes in.

Point.me for Membership Rewards points is a tool to help simplify the search for award flight costs. Rather than digging through each partner’s award charts, Point.me will do the leg work for you. This is a full co-branded solution designed specifically for Amex cardholders to search for Membership Rewards transfer partners. So while you won’t have access to premium features like Point.me’s Explorer function or other member benefits, you will get unlimited Membership Rewards-based searches.

Who Is Eligible?

All U.S. American Express Membership Rewards card members are eligible for the complimentary Point.me for Membership Rewards points’ award flight search tool. To check your eligibility, head to point.me/amex and log in with your Amex credentials.

You’ll then be asked to agree to the terms. Once you agree, that’s it; You’re in and immediately can begin searching award flights to redeem with your Membership Rewards.

Bottom Line

The new partnership between Point.me and American Express is an exciting prospect for award travelers. Having access to a tool that essentially summarizes all of Amex’s transfer partner award charts can save time and hassle when booking travel. You won’t get all the benefits of a traditional paid membership, but it does offer an efficient way to deal with the complex landscape of award travel.
