The bank offers three promotional CD terms of five, eight and 14 months, which earn higher rates than even some of the best online banks. Regions Bank Standard Promotional CDs earn slightly lower rates than Regions Bank Relationship Promotional CDs, but all promotional rates are considerably higher than the bank’s standard APYs.

Interest earned on Regions Bank CDs compounds daily. Customers can receive interest payments monthly, quarterly, semiannually or annually for CD terms of 366 days or longer. CD terms of 365 days or less receive interest payment at maturity.

Regions Bank CDs with terms of seven to 89 days require a $2,500 minimum opening deposit. CD terms of 90 days or more require a $500 minimum opening deposit.

Regions CDs renew automatically at maturity. The bank offers a grace period following maturity of one to ten days, depending on your CD term, during which you can add or withdraw funds or change CD terms without penalty.

Like most Banks, Regions Bank charges a penalty for withdrawing funds before the predetermined maturity date. On CD terms of 31 days or less, the bank charges an early withdrawal penalty equal to the calculated amount of interest the CD would’ve earned over the CD term. Early withdrawal penalties on CD terms longer than 31 days range from 31 days of interest to 182 days of interest, depending on the CD term.
