Airport lounge access is one of the few things to look forward to during an often stressful day of traveling. And while lounge access granted by credit cards allows many to relish in the luxury that is complimentary food and drinks, airlines usually reserve access to their own lounges for select flyers. Delta Air Lines is no different.

Earlier this year, in an effort to stem the overflow of visitors to its lounges, the airline made it more difficult to gain access to Delta Sky Clubs. But all is not lost as there are still plenty of ways to enjoy a Delta lounge when traveling on Delta or its partner’s airlines.

Keep reading to find out how you can get access to Delta Airlines’ Delta Sky Club.

New York’s JFK airport has an express Delta Sky Club with Grab and Go snacks and beverages as well.

Who Can Access Delta Sky Club?

You can gain access to a Delta Sky Club in numerous ways, but most likely, you’ll have to have a Delta Sky Club membership, by flying in Delta One or a similar first or business-class cabin, or have access as a benefit of select credit cards.

In addition, you must present a same-day boarding pass for either a Delta-operated or marketed flight, or be traveling in a premium cabin operated by a Delta Air Lines partner.

Access for Premium Cabin Flyers

Delta One domestic and international travelers get complimentary access to Delta Sky Club lounges. International first and business-class passengers flying on SkyTeam member airlines such as KLM or Korean Air can also access Delta Sky Clubs.

Select elite status holders may access Delta Sky Clubs as well without having to fly in a premium cabin.

Access for Elite Status Holders

Delta Medallion Members, Delta Air Lines’ top-tier elite status holders, can elect to purchase one of two annual membership types in order to enter Delta Sky Clubs. They can purchase an Executive Membership for $1,495 or 149,500 Delta SkyMiles or an Individual Membership for $695 or 69,500 Delta SkyMiles.

Executive members get to bring in up to two guests, while Individual Memberships require an additional fee per guest.

Delta Diamond, Platinum, and Gold Medallion members are only granted access to Delta Sky Club when they are flying internationally in either Delta Premium Select, first class, or Delta One. The same goes for if they’re traveling the equivalent of first class on a partner flight as well. They are allowed one guest.

SkyTeam Elite Plus customers, the top-tier status in the SkyTeam Alliance and complimentary for Delta Gold Medallion elite status holders and higher, who are traveling on a SkyTeam international flight regardless of cabin also have access to Delta Sky Club.

Those flying on a basic economy fare regardless of elite status cannot access a Delta Sky Club with their membership.

Access for Select Credit Card Holders

Those with select credit cards, including Delta Air Lines co-branded American Express credit cards, have access to Delta Sky Club as a benefit of card membership.

Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card cardholders and their additional card members each get complimentary Delta Sky Club access when flying same-day Delta-operated or marketed flights (effective 2/1/25, Reserve card members will receive 15 visits per year with the opportunity to spend toward unlimited visits).

When flying non-Delta-operated flights, these cardholders can enter the lounge for $50 per person or $25 per person at Grab and Go locations.

As of January 1, 2024, Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card and Delta SkyMiles® Platinum Business American Express Card Members no longer have access to Delta Sky Clubs.

And finally, cardholders of The Platinum Card® from American Express and The Business Platinum Card® from American Express also get complimentary access when traveling on a Delta-operated or marketed flight (effective 2/1/25, Platinum card members will receive 10 visits per year with the opportunity to spend toward unlimited visits). All American Express Card Members traveling on a Basic Economy ticket or an equivalent ticket with a partner airline will not receive Delta Sky Club Access effective January 1, 2024.

How Much is Delta Lounge Access?

Fees for Delta Sky Club access vary depending on how you gain access.

As mentioned above, Delta Medallion Members can purchase Sky Club Membership in two ways for up to $1,495 or 149,500 Delta SkyMiles.

Access to Delta Sky Clubs is a perk of the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card ($650 annual fee, terms apply, see rates & fees) and the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Business American Express Card ($650 annual fee, terms apply, see rates & fees; effective 2/1/25, Reserve card members will receive 15 visits per year with the opportunity to spend toward unlimited visits).

Delta Sky Club access is complimentary for Delta One passengers, those flying in first and business class on Delta partner flights, as well as Amex Platinum and Amex Business Cardholders when traveling on same-day Delta-operated and marketed flights.

How To Get Delta Lounge Access

The simplest way to get access to a Delta Sky Club lounge is by flying Delta One on a domestic or international flight. That way, you wouldn’t have to worry about whether your flight was Delta-operated or marketed and if you brought along the right credit card.

Those with Delta Medallion Status can elect to purchase either an annual Executive or Individual membership to Delta Sky Club. As long as you aren’t flying in basic economy, you would be able to enter the lounge with your same-day ticket on a Delta-operated or marketed flight.

Lastly, you could open a number of credit cards to unlock access to Delta Sky Clubs when traveling on Delta. Travelers who hold a qualifying Delta card receive complimentary access to Delta Sky Clubs when presenting their card and a boarding pass for a same-day flight.

Bottom Line

The Delta Sky Club is a comfortable way for travelers flying on Delta-operated and marketed flights as well as SkyTeam elite members to spend time before a flight.
