What Is PostJobFree?

PostJobFree is a job posting site where employers advertise their job openings and job seekers post their resumes. PostJobFree has an always-free version as well as a Premium Membership for employers.

How PostJobFree Works

We tested PostJobFree on a Windows laptop using the Google Chrome browser. You get started with PostJobFree by posting your first job and creating login credentials for your new account.

PostJobFree posts your job to other job search sites and job aggregator sites, including:

  • Bing
  • Google
  • LinkedIn
  • Oodle
  • Yahoo

However, PostJobFree does not post to other major job search sites, such as Indeed, Monster and ZipRecruiter. You can keep your job post visible for up to 30 days before needing to update or renew it for another 30 days.

Posting a job and confirming your account via email unlocks your free account and takes you to the homepage of your PostJobFree account.

PostJobFree Features

PostJobFree includes free syndicated job postings and candidate search functionality.

Job Posting

As an employer, you can post up to 10 free job posts each day to PostJobFree and it will publish to Bing, Google and other job search sites. It was very simple to post a job by entering the job title, company name, job description, location and an optional salary.

When creating a job post on PostJobFree, you enter a job title, job description and other basic job information.

PostJobFree doesn’t offer many fields to specify the job’s conditions further, such as whether the job is remote, on-site or hybrid. Entering your company’s location for a remote job post might mislead job seekers to think that the job is at that particular location.

Once we posted our job, we confirmed our email address to confirm our new account and access the main recruiter dashboard.

When a job seeker applies to your job, PostJobFree emails you the application. You can also check who’s applied by navigating to “All Applications.” Alternatively, you can direct your job post visitors to your own company career site via application programming interface (API). However, this costs your company between 10 cents and 50 cents per click, which can add up if you have a popular job post that redirects job seekers to your own site.

PostJobFree also allows you to view your job ad’s traffic analytics to see how many visitors looked at a job ad and where they were visiting from. You have to click on the linked number of visits that appears next to any given job.

Search

If you’d rather take a more active approach to sourcing job seekers, you can make use of its resume search function. You can search by keywords, search query and a particular United States city.

PostJobFree allows for a basic resume search but doesn’t have many search filters to apply.

PostJobFree also allows you to set up a resume search alert, which sends you an alert when someone posts a resume that matches your search terms. When creating a search alert, PostJobFree estimates how many resumes you’ll see each day or month, so you can adjust your query to narrow or expand the number of resumes to expect.

You can set up an automatic resume search alert in which PostJobFree notifies you via email of new resumes that match your search terms.

From the search results list, you can view candidates’ profiles that display the candidate’s name, location, work experience and more. However, their contact information is hidden partially.

The free version of PostJobFree enables you to view candidates’ resumes but you cannot view their contact information, unless you upgrade to a premium account.

You can contact the candidate through PostJobFree’s internal messaging and view message history. With the free version, you’re allowed five messages each week.

With the free version of PostJobFree, you can contact candidates directly via PostJobFree’s internal messaging system.

Additional Features Worth Noting

PostJobFree’s premium membership includes unlimited job posts, promoted job posts, more options for contacting candidates and other benefits.

Unlimited Job Posts

The more visitors you have to your published job posts, the higher your daily posting limit is. However, if users click “report spam” on any of your job posts, your daily posting limit will decrease. This is how PostJobFree ensures quality control and the legitimacy of job posts.

Promoted Job Posts

Signing up for one of PostJobFree’s premium subscription tiers enables you to promote a limited number of job ads each month. This allows your job ad to appear at the top of job seekers’ search results, leading to more job ad views and more applications.

Candidate Contact

A premium membership allows you to see the job seeker’s full contact information. This gives you more options for communication methods (direct email and phone call) rather than being limited to PostJobFree’s internal messaging system.

Customization

A premium member of PostJobFree can customize their company profile and job postings with their company logo.

Candidate List Exporting

The premium membership grants you access to its export feature to download a list of candidates you’ve contacted for a position. You can then upload this list into your own ATS to continue tracking your engagement with those candidates.

PostJobFree Customer Service and Support

PostJobFree offers customer support via email, phone call or support ticket. However, there’s no information on the site about the days and hours of customer support availability. There’s a separate support email address for premium customers which suggests that those inquiries will get addressed more quickly.

We reached out to PostJobFree’s standard customer support via email regarding several questions we have about its site:

  • Where the visitor analytics features are located
  • Whether we get automatic emails about relevant resumes for our search alerts
  • How many resume contacts we’re allowed each month using the free version
  • Whether PostJobFree integrates with any third-party tools

We received a response the next business day that answered most of our questions in a satisfactory manner. For instance, we did not get an answer as to whether PostJobFree integrates with other software.

*Guru reimburses for the invoicing fee if you pay freelancers via e-check or wire transfer.

PostJobFree vs. Guru

While PostJobFree is a general job posting site for U.S.-based jobs, Guru plugs you into a network of freelance talent from around the globe. Also, PostJobFree has a completely free version, while Guru is completely free as long as you pay freelancers using e-check or write transfer. Moreover, PostJobFree syndicates its job postings to major job search sites but Guru does not.

PostJobFree vs. Handshake

Handshake specializes in helping businesses recruit and hire college students or college graduates. Meanwhile, PostJobFree is a general job posting site that doesn’t target any specific demographic. However, the fact that they serve somewhat different hiring needs doesn’t make these sites mutually exclusive, especially since both have a free version. However, Handshake does offer more features for hiring, such as automatic candidate matching, interviewing and scheduling tools, templates and more.

PostJobFree vs. Hubstaff Talent

PostJobFree and Hubstaff Talent are very similar because they’re both no-frills job posting sites that simply allow companies to post jobs, view applications and search for candidates. The major difference between the two is that Hubstaff Talent focuses on hiring remote freelancers. Hubstaff Talent also has a couple of advantages over PostJobFree. For one, its free version doesn’t limit your view of applicants’ contact information. Plus, it includes some third-party integrations. However, PostJobFree has the benefit of job ad promotion when you upgrade to a premium membership, while Hubstaff Talent does not offer any such option.

Our Expert Opinion

Setup

It was very easy to get started with PostJobFree by simply creating a job post and setting up your login credentials.

Ease of Use

PostJobFree is a very rudimentary design without the sleek look and functionality of other job posting sites. Its limited features of job posting and searching for resumes make it easy to use. We found it easy to post a job and search for resumes; however, we wish it had more search filters to apply.

Bottom Line: Is PostJobFree Right for You?

PostJobFree is a no-frills job posting site that’s perfect for low-cost or no-cost hiring for job openings in your organization. It’s very easy to post jobs and search for resumes. However, PostJobFree has limited search functionality and doesn’t integrate with other software. This means that you’ll likely have a high number of search results to evaluate and will need to keep navigating to PostJobFree or another external communication tool (with Premium) to keep in touch with candidates.

PostJobFree is best for:

  • Free job posting
  • Resume search alerts
  • Companies that are hiring full-time employees
  • Companies that want a budget-friendly site to hire from
  • Companies that want syndicated job posting

PostJobFree is not recommended for:

  • Companies looking for specific types of job seekers
  • Companies that want a built-in ATS and hiring collaboration tools
  • Companies that want robust candidate search functionality
  • Companies that want syndicated job postings to more of the big-name job posting sites, such as Indeed and Monster
