MetLife Auto and Home was recently acquired by Farmers insurance. If you currently have car insurance or home insurance with MetLife, your policies will be administered by Farmers GroupSelect. There will be no immediate changes to your policy, coverage or benefits, according to Farmers.

MetLife Car Insurance Discounts

MetLife car insurance policyholders can expect no immediate changes to their policies, according to Farmers Insurance. Here are some of the discounts that will be available:

  • Multi-policy discount. Farmers is working to create a discount for customers who have a car insurance policy through MetLife and Farmers Insurance. Farmers recommend contacting them to see if a multi-policy discount is available in your state.
  • Employment or association discounts. Farmers will honor discounts and benefits if you currently get car insurance or home insurance discounts through your employer or association membership.
  • MetLife employee and retiree discounts. There will be no interruption for group discounts for MetLife employees and retirees.

Farmers Insurance has also acquired MetLife’s home insurance policies. The company has stated there will be no immediate changes to policies, coverages or benefits. MetLife home insurance policy will be administered by Farmers GroupSelect.

Methodology

To find average car insurance rates nationwide, we used rates from Quadrant Information Services, a provider of insurance data and analytics. Rates are based on insuring a new Toyota RAV4 with $100,000 in bodily injury liability coverage per person, $300,000 per accident and $100,000 in property damage liability, uninsured motorist coverage and any other coverage required in the state. The rate also includes collision and comprehensive with a $500 deductible.
