Our Verdict
This card is no longer available.
Without any additional benefits or compelling bonus categories, the Barclays View™ Mastercard®* is an uninteresting card currently being used to retain former Uber credit card customers who don’t want to sign up for a new card. Plenty of no-annual-fee credit cards offer 3 points per dollar on restaurants or 2% cash back on all purchases. Uber card holders who were converted to this card would be well served to shop around for a card with a better outlook.

Introduction
The Barclays View™ Mastercard®* isn’t currently open to new applicants, but as of October 22, 2021, previous Uber Credit Card holders found themselves owning this credit card instead when the Uber card was discontinued. Barclays touts its View card as having “rewards designed for the way you live.” The card earns 3 points per dollar on restaurant purchases, 2 points per dollar on internet, select streaming, phone, tv services and grocery store purchases and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases.
In converting Uber card holders to the Barclays View™ Mastercard®*, Barclays does say that account numbers will change, but that changes will not affect Uber card members’ credit reports. However, if you are in the market for a new credit card, be aware that credit card product changes that result in a new account number typically appear as new accounts on credit reports, which could affect your eligibility for new credit cards.

Rewards Potential
Using data from various government agencies, Forbes Advisor has developed estimates for how much a family in the 70th percentile of income spends annually in various categories. We base our assumptions on a sole proprietor in this income range. The 70th percentile of wage-earning households brings in $116,000 annually and has $36,107 in expenses that can be charged to credit cards. These figures are used to estimate the potential rewards from this credit card.
Our example family would earn 11,544 points from their $3,848 in annual spending on dining at restaurants. They would also earn up to 6,500 points from $3,250 in spending on internet, streaming, phone and TV services, provided their streaming providers are in Barclays’ list of select streaming providers. Their $6,679 in total spending at grocery stores would add 13,358 points to their annual earnings. Finally, the remaining $22,330 in spending that could be reasonably spent on credit cards would earn 22,330 points.
In total, a typical family can expect to earn a total of 53,732 points annually from the Barclays View Mastercard, worth $537.32 toward direct-deposited cash back, statement credits or gift cards.
