NordVPN Free Trial Explained

There are two different ways you can try out NordVPN before committing to a full purchase. One way is the 30-day money back guarantee (which does require a pre-payment), or the seven-day trial (which is only available to Android users).

Forbes Advisor spoke to NordVPN to find out about each option and help you decide which is best for you.

NordVPN 30-Day Guarantee

A NordVPN cybersecurity advisor, Adrianus Warmenhoven, explained to Forbes Advisor that all customers of NordVPN are entitled to a full refund, as long as their initial payment is not older than 30 days. This deal requires no special sign up–it simply means if you are not happy with the service within your first month of using it, you can get your money back.

During the first 30 days of your service, you will have complete access to NordVPN. This will only become limited in the event that you cancel your subscription and request a refund.

After requesting your refund, you should receive your money back within 10 days. If you do not request a refund within the first 30 days of your initial payment, you will continue to be charged for a NordVPN subscription.

NordVPN Free Trial

NordVPN says that it does not offer a free trial to customers via purchases made on its website—instead, a free trial is available to Android users via Google Play.

“This trial is organised by Google Play itself and follows its Terms of Service,” Warmenhoven says.

“Please keep in mind that we only allow one free trial per customer, so a user should make sure to log into their NordVPN account when ordering a subscription.”

Android users taking up the free trial offer will be able to access the service for free for a period of seven days. There are no limitations on the service within this period; the customer can access NordVPN as if they were on a full paying subscription.

If the customer cancels their subscription within this seven-day period, they will not be charged. A credit card is taken upon signing up, meaning that if you do not cancel before the seven-day period expires, you will be charged for a subscription.

Why Not Have Both?

While NordVPN only allows one free trial per customer, it does still allow for customers to use both the free trial and 30-day back guarantee: meaning you can try NordVPN for a total of 37 days (roughly five weeks) before properly committing.

Essentially, you should try the seven-day free trial via the Google Play store first, and then keep track of the next 30 days once your initial payment is deducted (which will occur at the end of the seven-day period). If you cancel within those 30 days, you will receive your money back.

Before taking out a seven-day free trial or the 30-day money back guarantee, you’ll need to consider which subscription you’d be interested in purchasing should you want to continue to use the NordVPN service.

NordVPN can be purchased on a monthly, annual, or bi-annual basis, with three different subscription levels available: standard, plus, or complete. Each level varies with its offering, with the most comprehensive offering (the ‘complete’ NordVPN subscription) including 1TB cloud storage and next-gen file encryption.
