About Ram

The RAM brand might be only a decade old, but 100 years of experience goes into each truck it builds.
Initially, RAM began life as the truck division of Dodge, which started producing trucks in 1917. In 1928, Dodge was purchased by Chrysler, but it was still allowed to operate under its own name. The RAM moniker, however, didn’t appear until 1981 on the redesigned version of the Power RAM following the retirement of the famous D-series Dodge Pickup Trucks. At first, it was only used on Dodge’s light truck line. However, over the years the brand has branched out to other heavier lines as well.

In 2009, RAM was spun off as its own marque following the acquisition of Chrysler by Italian behemoth Fiat. Dodge would then allow the latter to better focus on building and marketing an exclusively car-based lineup. RAM could focus on building light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and vans, known for durability, exceptional towing capacity and a competitive pricing.
