What Does Battleface Travel Insurance Cover?

Battleface allows you to customize your travel insurance by selecting from various types of coverage based on your specific needs and trip details.

Trip cancellation coverage: With trip cancellation insurance, you can get reimbursed for non-refundable prepaid trip expenses if you need to cancel due to a covered reason listed in the policy—such as illness or injury. Battleface offers “cancel for any reason” coverage for an additional fee.

Travel medical insurance: Travel medical insurance covers emergency medical treatment if you get sick or hurt while traveling. It pays for hospital visits, doctor bills, prescriptions and other care, up to your medical limits within the policy.

Emergency medical evacuation insurance: Emergency medical evacuation insurance pays to transport you to the nearest facility that can provide appropriate care if you need urgent medical treatment not available locally during your trip.

Travel delay insurance: Travel delay insurance gives you reimbursement for accommodations, meals and other expenses if your trip is delayed for a problem listed in your policy, such as bad weather. It also covers unused prepaid expenses for missed parts of a trip. Waiting periods may apply.

Travel interruption insurance: If your trip is cut short due to reasons listed in your coverage (such as a family member getting sick), trip interruption insurance can pay the cost to get you home.

Adventures sports: If during your trip you participate in adventure activities listed in your Discovery policy, travel medical expense insurance applies if you get injured.

Baggage and personal effects coverage: If your luggage or belongings are damaged, lost or stolen during your travels, baggage insurance can reimburse you up, but only up to specified limits and based on the depreciated value of your belongings. Baggage delay insurance can also help you pay for necessities like toiletries and clothing if your luggage arrives late.

Single Trip Discovery Policy

The single-trip plan from Battleface provides coverage for one specific trip up to 90 days in length. When you purchase a policy, you select your exact travel dates and destinations.

The single-trip plan includes important coverage like emergency medical treatment, emergency medical evacuation, trip cancellation and trip interruption. You can also add optional coverage like rental car damage, vacation rental damage, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), pet travel and “cancel for any reason.”

The Discovery plan also helps pay for medical costs if you’re injured doing any of the following activities:

  • Backpacking.
  • Canoeing.
  • Camping.
  • Cycling.
  • Downhill and cross-country skiing.
  • Fishing.
  • Hiking.
  • Ice Skating.
  • Kayaking.
  • Mountain climbing up to fifteen thousand (15,000) feet.
  • Sailing.
  • Scuba diving for qualified divers up to a maximum depth of forty (40) meters (one hundred thirty-one (131) feet) and for unqualified divers up to a maximum depth of thirty (30) meters (ninety-eight (98) feet).
  • Snorkeling.
  • Snowboarding (including off-trail and backcountry skiing and snowboarding, except as designated unsafe by the resort management).
  • Snowmobiling.
  • Snow tubing.
  • Tobogganing.
  • Water skiing.
  • White or black water rafting (Grades one (1) to four (4).

Note that adventure activities are excluded from medical evacuation benefits.

A key advantage of the single-trip option is you can customize the coverage specifically for an upcoming trip. The single-trip plan covers longer trips up to 90 days in length, compared to the 40-day per trip limit on the multi-trip version.

The single-trip plan requires purchasing a new policy for each trip, which may be less convenient if you travel frequently throughout the year. For multiple trips, the multi-trip plan may provide more flexibility and value.

Multi-Trip Annual Policy

When you purchase a multi-trip policy from Battleface, you’re covered for unlimited trips for 365 days. Each trip can be up to 40 days long.

The multi-trip plan includes the same core benefits as the single-trip plan, such as emergency medical coverage, emergency medical evacuation, trip cancellation and trip interruption.

You can select your maximum coverage limit for the year: $1,500, $3,000 or $5,000. If you’re taking a trip that costs more than these limits, Battleface suggests purchasing a single-trip plan.

A key advantage of the multi-trip option is convenience—you can take as many trips as you want knowing you already have coverage in place, without having to purchase a new policy for each trip. The multi-trip plan may also be more economical compared to buying single-trip policies for each individual vacation you take throughout the year.

Space Travel Insurance

Battleface also has a Space Travel Insurance plan for space flights. While statistics are limited for commercial space flight risks, Battleface partners with underwriters at Lloyd’s of London to build a customized protection plan. These plans help cover any catastrophic events that result in death or disability.

Battleface Travel Insurance Optional Add-ons

The main optional add-ons for Battleface’s Discovery Single-Trip travel insurance policies are:

  • Pet travel package: Covers up to $2,000 in veterinary care if your pet gets sick or injured while traveling. Also covers pet transportation home up to $500 if you can’t travel due to illness or injury.
  • Rental vehicle damage: Up to $35,000 in coverage for theft of or damage to a rented vehicle.
  • Accidental death & dismemberment: Choose a coverage amount up to $500,000 for accidents resulting in loss of life, limbs, eyesight or hearing.
  • Vacation rental damage: Reimburses you for damage to personal property in a vacation rental. All traveling companions are covered if they are listed on the rental agreement.
  • “Cancel for any reason” upgrade: Get up to 75% refund on prepaid trip costs if you cancel for any reason not covered in the base policy. You must buy this add-on within 15 days of making your initial trip deposit. “Cancel for any reason” travel insurance upgrades typically add 50% to your travel insurance cost. You have to cancel your trip no less than 48 hours before your departure in order to make an insurance claim using this coverage.

Battleface Travel Insurance Frequently Asked Questions

How do I buy Battleface travel insurance?

You can purchase Battleface travel insurance online in minutes. Visit its website, enter your trip details and personal information, then select your preferred coverage. Policies start at 4% to 8% of your total trip cost for single trips, on average, according to the company.

Do Battleface travel insurance plans cover Covid-19?

Battleface policies cover travel medical expenses, emergency evacuation and repatriation of remains if you or a traveling companion require medical treatment or emergency evacuation due to Covid-related sickness while on your trip. If you, a traveling companion, or a family member develop an unforeseen Covid-related illness before or during your trip and meet the requirements for coverage due to illness, trip cancellation, trip interruption and trip delay benefits apply. That said, Battleface doesn’t cover expenses related to stay-at-home orders or precautionary isolations.

Does Battleface offer “cancel for any reason” coverage?

Yes, Battleface’s Single Trip Discovery plan allows you to add “cancel for any reason” travel insurance for an additional cost. This optional upgrade lets you cancel your trip for any reason not otherwise covered and receive up to 75% of your trip costs. To qualify, you must purchase it within 15 days of your initial trip payment and cancel 48 hours or more before departure.

Does Battleface cover pre-existing medical conditions?

Battleface’s Single Trip plan excludes coverage for pre-existing medical conditions unless you purchase the policy within 15 days of making your first trip payment. This provides a pre-existing medical condition exclusion waiver. For the Annual Multi-Trip plan, the pre-existing conditions exclusion is waived once your policy is active for 60 days.
