USI Affinity Travel Insurance Services Frequently Asked Questions

Do USI Affinity travel insurance plans cover Covid?

USI Affinity Travel Insurance Services has plans that include coverage for Covid-related trip cancellation and medical expenses, such as the Diamond and Ruby plans.

If you get Covid right before your trip and have to cancel, these plans can reimburse you for 100% of what you lose in pre-paid and non-refundable deposits. And if you get Covid during your vacation, these plans can cover associated medical costs.

Do USI Affinity’s travel insurance plans cover pre-existing medical conditions?

Pre-existing medical condition exclusion waivers are available from USI Affinity. Make sure to check your plan’s details to confirm you have this coverage.

This waiver means that pre-existing conditions won’t be excluded from your coverage. For example, the Diamond plan will cover pre-existing conditions if you buy the travel insurance plan within 14 days of your initial trip deposit. You also must insure the full value of your non-refundable trip cost.

Do USI Affinity travel insurance plans have “cancel for any reason” coverage?

USI Affinity provides the option to upgrade to “cancel for any reason” (CFAR) coverage on several of its plans, including the Diamond and Ruby plans. With “cancel for any reason” coverage, you gain the option to cancel for a reason not listed in the plan’s base trip cancellation reasons and still get some partial reimbursement. For example, you could cancel your trip because you’ve decided to run the New York City marathon instead.

Make sure to check the rules for CFAR for the plan you’re buying. For example, the Diamond plan can reimburse 75% of your trip costs under a CFAR claim. You must buy the “cancel for any reason” upgrade within 14 days of making your initial trip deposit. And to make a CFAR claim you must cancel at least two days before your departure date.
