Tin Leg Travel Insurance Frequently Asked Questions

Do Tin Leg travel insurance plans cover Covid?

Tin Leg has several travel insurance plans that cover Covid-19. For example, the Tin Leg Adventure, Luxury, Silver, Gold, Economy and Standard plans all include coverage for Covid-related trip cancellations and medical expenses.

If you come down with Covid-19 right before you are set to leave and have to cancel, these plans will reimburse you for 100% of what you lose in pre-paid and non-refundable deposits. If you catch Covid during your trip, these plans can cover the medical costs.

Do Tin Leg travel insurance plans cover pre-existing medical conditions?

Pre-existing medical condition exclusion waivers are available from Tin Leg. Make sure to check your plan’s details to confirm this coverage.

When you have this waiver, pre-existing conditions won’t be excluded from your coverage. For example, Tin Leg’s Luxury plan will cover pre-existing conditions if you buy the plan within 15 days of your initial trip deposit. You also must insure the full value of your non-refundable trip cost and you must have been medically able to travel when you bought the travel insurance plan among other conditions.

Do Tin Leg travel insurance plans have “cancel for any reason” coverage?

Tin Leg offers the option to upgrade to “cancel for any reason” (CFAR) coverage on plans such as the Gold and Silver plans.

“Cancel for any reason” coverage gives you the option to cancel a trip for a reason not listed in the policy’s basic trip cancellation reasons. For example, you could cancel the trip because you decide you don’t want to travel during a hectic tourist season.

Make sure to check the rules for CFAR for the plan you’re buying. For example, Tin Leg’s Gold plan will reimburse you for 75% of your trip costs under a CFAR claim. You must buy the “cancel for any reason” upgrade within 14 days of making your initial trip deposit. And to make a CFAR claim you must cancel at least two days before your departure date.
