Kaspersky provides some of the most popular antivirus solutions on the market. Misleading name aside, its mobile offering is of a similar quality. Notable features include anti-phishing browser protections that warn you if a link or a website is dangerous to click on, a built-in VPN and a Wi-Fi Security Checker that can warn you if you connect to an unsecured Wi-Fi network.
While we did not encounter this issue during our own testing, several reviews on the Apple App Store have noted issues with this app’s VPN and Wi-Fi-related features, reporting broken connections and freezes. The app worked well during our testing, and we appreciated the small cybersecurity news feed that comes with the app.
Kaspersky Antivirus & VPN is available for free on the Apple App Store. To unlock its full functionality, users will need to purchase a yearly subscription starting at $31.99 CAD per year for up to three devices. A one-week free trial is available for this subscription.
Who should use it: Users looking for an extra boost in protection from a veteran in the cybersecurity space.
Editor note: The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has declared Kaspersky a national security risk. With the war in Ukraine, accusations of Russian espionage, the U.S. government banning Kaspersky products from its own systems and a recent iOS hack on its own devices, we recommend you proceed with caution if you choose to use Kaspersky.
