Anxiety is one of my defining character traits, so I’m always interested in products that claim to have calming powers. One such product is cannabidiol (CBD), a popular supplement many people use to help manage pain, alleviate anxiety and improve sleep quality.

I tested CBDistillery’s THC-Free Pure CBD Oil Tincture for three weeks to learn how it could affect my overall well-being. This particular CBD oil is an isolate, meaning it contains pure CBD—no other compounds from the hemp plant, including the well-known intoxicating component tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

About CBDistillery

Founded in 2016 by a group of Colorado natives, CBDistillery offers a wide range of CBD products, including oil tinctures, gummies, capsules, topicals and isolate powders. It sells all products via its online store, as well as in shops nationwide. While I’m based in Pennsylvania, I can easily find CBDistillery products at CBD shops and dispensaries nearby.

CBDistillery’s products are third-party tested and certified by the U.S. Hemp Authority, which means they’re sent to an independent, third-party lab for analysis before being sold. Such testing helps assure customers that the product labeling is accurate, from its listed CBD potency to its amount of detectable THC.

All of the company’s products have a certificate of analysis (COA) from ACS Laboratory, a third-party accredited lab, explaining that the CBD was extracted from industrial hemp and contains no heavy metals or toxins. CBDistillery makes it easy to find a product’s COA—simply scan the QR code on the package with your phone to pull up the document online.

How Much Does CBDistillery CBD Oil Cost?

I purchased the 30-milliliter bottle of CBDistillery’s THC-Free Pure CBD Oil Tincture directly from the company’s website. It cost $55 (on sale from its usual $65), plus $8 shipping. With tax, it cost a total of $66.78.

The bottle contains 1,000 milligrams of CBD, which breaks down to a little more than 33 milligrams of CBD per milliliter serving, or one dropper.

Overall, the price felt steep to me. I’m a relatively frugal person, and spending nearly $70 on a small bottle that easily fits in the palm of my hand was an unusual splurge.

CBDistillery CBD Oil Potency

With 33 milligrams of CBD per serving, this tincture’s potency is on the lower end of the spectrum, which could make it an attractive option for people who are new to CBD.

CBDistillery offers the same CBD oil tincture with an even lower potency of less than 17 milligrams of CBD per serving, as well as one with a much higher potency of more than 83 milligrams of CBD per serving.

Is CBDistillery High-Quality?

CBDistillery’s THC-Free Pure CBD Oil Tincture is made with just two ingredients: fractionated coconut oil (a medium-chain triglyceride, or MCT, oil) and CBD from non-GMO hemp extract. The hemp is grown in the U.S. using natural farming practices. I appreciated the short ingredient list, the quality of its contents and the fact that it’s entirely THC-free.

Our CBDistillery Experience

I used CBDistillery’s THC-Free Pure CBD Oil Tincture twice daily for three weeks, consuming 1 milliliter (the listed serving size on the bottle) each time. I held the oil under my tongue for 15 to 20 seconds before swallowing—a technique I never quite mastered, as the CBD oil consistently landed on top of my tongue. Trying to drop and hold it underneath my tongue felt awkward and unnatural.

Otherwise, I was impressed with the CBD oil tincture. I found it perfectly palatable—earthy with no aftertaste.

Throughout my three weeks of testing the product, I occasionally felt slightly dizzy within about 15 minutes of consuming it, which was a minor complaint. But it didn’t interfere with my ability to function. In a way, it was reassuring. I found myself thinking, “Oh! The CBD must be working.”

And indeed, after about four days of taking the CBD regularly, I began to notice its effects. I was laughing easily and more frequently, and I felt generally relaxed in a way I didn’t before starting my CBD regimen. During stressful moments, I felt like I was able to center myself more quickly than I would normally. Nothing else had changed in my routine except for the addition of the CBD oil.

At the end of my three-week trial period, I felt calmer than I have in months.

Final Thoughts on CBDistillery

If you’re interested in trying CBD oil for the first time and you’re up for a little splurge, I recommend trying CBDistillery’s THC-Free Pure CBD Oil Tincture. It’s a quality product from a trustworthy company that proved effective for me, and I felt good about using it. It also shipped quickly.

I plan to continue buying the CBD oil tincture every four to six months to fit it comfortably into my wellness budget. I’m already looking forward to my next bottle.

Keep in mind that CBD oil is not approved by the FDA. Your results may vary when using the product, and you should always consult a physician before taking a new dietary supplement.
